The pH level of YOGHSOAP® varies from 8 to 10, while human skin maintains a pH between 4.5-5.5, known as the "acid mantle." This layer protects the skin from harmful elements in the environment. Natural soap most effectively cleanses the skin because it attracts fats, dirt, and microbes from the skin, which are rinsed away with water, while simultaneously moisturizing the skin. After rinsing, the skin naturally restores its pH balance within about 2-3 hours. Moisturizing products like YOGHBODY® body butter accelerate the restoration of the skin's protective mantle.

Industrial soaps and handmade soaps are fundamentally different products. Industrial soaps prioritize quantity over quality. They are machine-produced from cheap palm oil, aggressive chemicals, and synthetic additives, potentially harmful to the skin. Glycerin - the natural, moisturizing derivative in natural soap - is extracted from commercial versions to be sold as an ingredient in the cosmetic industry. Therefore, these soaps are crumbly, rough, and drying to the skin.

Handmade soaps made with the cold process method contain various oils in their raw form. The moisturizing glycerin remains in the soap. In YOGHSOAP® soaps, we add extra oil so that the finished product has an excess of fatty acids that the skin directly absorbs. Our soap matures for 4 weeks.

Industrial soap is easily recognizable by its composition, appearance, and price. Most industrial soaps have the following composition: Sodium palmate, Aqua, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Parfum, Palm Acid, Glycerin, Palm Kernel Acid, Sodium Chloride, Parfum, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate, etc. This is a standard, basic formula with artificial fragrances, dyes, and other ingredients permitted by law, but with no benefit to your skin. Soaps are molded by extrusion from a machine. In appearance, they all look the same: rough, crumbly, and smooth.

High-quality natural soap is cold-processed with several oils and scented with essential oils. Be skeptical if a soap is advertised as natural and handmade using the cold method but is cheap. In the commercial network, we often come across overpriced soaps (over 15-20 BGN +) that are neither natural nor handmade. These are industrial baits that, under glossy packaging, push mediocre soap as luxurious.

We craft our soaps the traditional way through a time-intensive cold process method, the gold standard of soap-making. That means no shortcuts, no factory “soap pellets,” no melt-and-pour generics, no harsh detergents. Our proprietary recipes use only natural and essential oils, fresh yoghurt and lye combining in a slow 4-week cure to create rich, moisturising bars with an epic lather and a fresh, clean rinse.

Why it matters: Cold-process bars retain more skin-moisturising glycerine and deliver a more luxurious feel than mass-produced, detergent-based "soaps" that can strip your skin. Most commercial "soap" has its glycerine removed and sold off separately to the cosmetic industry, which is more profitable elsewhere than left in for you. YOGHSOAP® keeps it all in – 8% natural moisturising glycerine. You'll feel the difference from the very first wash.

Worth knowing: we superfat the soap by adding 10% fresh full-fat Bulgarian yoghurt and 5% extra olive oil at the very end, after the lye has done its job — for extra moisturising power. These fats go in raw and don’t saponify i.e. so they don’t convert into soap. They remain as they are and sit on your skin. That is why YOGHSOAP® won’t strip or dry out your skin.

On average, 3 weeks of daily use but that’s up to your lather style and storage. Treat it right, and the bar will go the distance.
