Back to the Basics

Обратно към основите

Solid soap has been around for centuries—and for good reason. Soap is simple. Or at least, it should be. Let's discard from the start the liquid bottled ones—they're no good, neither for your skin nor for the environment, and they just don't do the job. On top of that, you’re basically paying for water mixed with a bunch of chemicals and preservatives. Out!

There’s a lot more to soap than meets the eye. From how it’s made to what it’s made with, not all soap is created equal. At Yogh, we focus on solid soap—handmade in small batches, cold processed, scented with essential oils, and often enriched with ingredients like natural yogurt. Each choice in that process is deliberate and worth understanding.

Why Handmade Matters

Small-batch, handmade soap allows for better ingredients and more careful formulation. High-quality oils and butters are used in their most effective forms, without relying on synthetic foaming agents or preservatives.

The result? A nourishing, skin-friendly bar that maintains the natural benefits of its ingredients—something mass-produced soap often sacrifices for shelf life and standardisation.

The Cold Process Method

Cold process is a traditional soapmaking method that avoids high heat, helping to preserve the properties of the ingredients. Oils and lye are combined and cured over several weeks to create a gentle, long-lasting bar.

  • Natural glycerin is retained (a moisturising humectant)
  • Oils and butters remain close to their original form
  • No need for synthetic additives or conditioners

It’s a slower method—but it produces a better bar for your skin.

Essential Oils: Natural Scent, Real Benefits

Unlike synthetic fragrances, essential oils are plant-based, biodegradable, and less likely to irritate the skin. They also support overall wellbeing through aromatherapy.

  • Lavender promotes calm
  • Peppermint boosts clarity and focus
  • Citrus oils help lift mood and reduce stress

Essential oils provide subtle, complex scents—enhancing your daily routine without overwhelming it.

Why Yogurt?

Yogurt adds more than novelty to soap. It contributes to a creamy, moisturising lather and helps care for dry or sensitive skin.

  • Natural fats and proteins nourish
  • Lactic acid gently exfoliates
  • The texture feels soft and luxurious on the skin

It’s a quiet, effective ingredient that enhances the entire bar.

In a world of overcomplicated products and overflowing bathroom shelves, going back to basics means choosing things that are honest, functional, and made with care. Understanding how soap is made—and what goes into it—helps us rethink what we put on our skin every day. Solid, simple, and thoughtfully crafted soap isn’t just a return to tradition.

It’s a return to common sense.
